Description:

This ESRC/UKRI-funded, 0.8 FTE appointment, offers the opportunity to work with the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies in professional work, an exciting and fast-moving area, especially given recent developments with AI-based technologies. The role will involve supporting and working with a team of researchers across three universities to develop and research a digital innovation accelerator for small and medium-sized accounting and law firms. The project, which has been running since May 2023, is being conducted in conjunction with Hyperscale Group Ltd., who are technology consultants. The work includes the provision of structured methods such as training, needs analysis and group workshops, as well as supporting resources, to help selected accountancy and law firms accelerate their technology adoption. This is not a project about the technical specifics of digital innovation but is about the management of the adoption process in the distinctive context of accounting and law professional service firms. Although this post will be based in the Department of Management Science, the academic colleagues working on the project are from two Departments across LUMS, as well as at Oxford Brookes Business School, our main partner, and Salford Business School.
You will have a degree level qualification. The degree could be in a range of subjects, but is likely to be in the social sciences, including but not limited to business & management. You will have demonstrable experience and expertise in planning and managing project activities in a fast- changing, multi-stakeholder project setting. You will demonstrate an ability to manage activities including meetings, workshops with industry partners and funders, procurement of services from external suppliers, planning and control of project finances, reporting to funders and other stakeholders, coordinating project communications, and arranging associated travel, accommodation, catering and venue planning. The Project Manager position requires initiative and independence, doing what is necessary to make things happen, anticipating and identifying upcoming deadlines and challenges, and supporting the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators in delivering project outcomes.
This is a part time role - 0.8 FTE (29.2 hours per week) until 30/09/2025.
Please contact Martin Spring (m.spring@lancaster.ac.uk) or James Faulconbridge (j.faulconbridge@lancaster.ac.uk) for more information about the project and for an informal discussion about the post.
