Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure Projects, the Project Manager, Infrastructure Projects is responsible for the implementation of capital projects and maintenance related projects on behalf of the division. The projects will focus on linear and vertical infrastructure and water and wastewater systems, stormwater infrastructure, critical roads and active transportation. This position is required to liaise within the department and throughout the organization, as well as with external consultants and contractors to effectively coordinate and deliver complex projects within the established schedule, budget and scope. The position supports long term planning and asset management of the Town’s critical infrastructure. The main duties and responsibilities of the position are in the areas of project management, engineering services, coordination and communication, capital planning, and procurement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  2. Possession of an Engineering designation (e.g., P. Eng or CET). Project Management Professional certification is considered an asset.
  3. Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience including management of large water and wastewater, multi-million-dollar projects.
  4. Excellent understanding of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure and process design. Excellent mathematical skills with the ability to analyze data, perform calculations and work with large amounts of data.
  5. Detailed knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, plan review, subdivision and site plan development, stormwater management, traffic and transportation, municipal servicing, lot grading, and contract administration and inspection.
  6. Thorough knowledge of legislation, standards and guidelines to effectively perform the duties of this role (e.g., MECP, OHSA, etc.). Physical ability to perform required activities and wear required personal protective equipment.
  7. Excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, project management, and public relations skills, together with the ability to use tact and discretion and to deal courteously and effectively with the
    public and fellow staff members.
  8. Ability to multi-task, cope with interruptions and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines, exercise discretion and good judgment particularly when handling highly confidential/sensitive information. Possess a high level of initiative and personal integrity.
  9. Thorough knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, database management, and office equipment. Knowledge of GIS, hydraulic modelling software and AutoCad an asset.
  10. Valid Class “G” driver’s license, current Driver’s Abstract with results satisfactory to the Employer and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. Ability and willingness to travel within the community as required.
  11. Possess a current Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with results satisfactory to the employer, and a valid standard first aid & CPR/AED Level C certification (or willing to obtain).
