PROJECT MANAGER

Snow & Company is a fast-growing boat building and repair company in Seattle seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team. We are currently working on some exciting projects including two pilot boats, a hybrid research vessel, and an 8-year contract to build work boats for the US Navy.

Job Summary:
This position has full authority and responsibility for project profits and losses and manages all aspects of assigned ship repair projects. The individual provides primary customer interface throughout the project. Through project team members, manages the application of labor and materials to achieve timely, better-than-bid results and assure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:

  • Plans, estimates, negotiates, staffs, directs the work, and reconciles final billings on assigned projects. As the top decision maker on the project, resolves any internal issues that arise over the productive, safe management of the project.
  • Coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects
  • Writes timely and accurate documentation of each job and contributes accordingly to final specifications.
  • Meets or exceeds customers’ realistic expectations for quality, productivity, and safety on projects, and manages the customer relationship through any changes in the scope and price of the project to assure continuing customer satisfaction and profitable project closure.
  • Track the process of identifying materials required and coordinates with the purchasing team to ensure items are purchased
  • Collaborates and communicates with others to resolve challenges to ensure a successful result
  • Resolves issues on a day-to-day basis with customers, owners, and other interested parties. Represents the Company fairly and consistently when interacting with customers.
  • Interprets specifications, plans project sequencing, and coordinates the various phases of the project to prevent delays and avoid rework. Ensures that change order requests and CFRs are properly written and approves them before providing them to the Project Management team.
  • Confers with supervision and project management staff, and project inspectors and suppliers of materials, to resolve repair problems and to improve repair methods.
  • Prepares periodic management reports on work progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports. Ensures adherence to the work process.
  • Arranges sea trials and documentation of sea trial reports
  • Preforms final inspection of completed boat to ensure all open Quality Assurance (QA) discrepancies and any other known defects are addressed and repaired
  • Coordinates and ensures smooth hand off post-delivery to the Customer Support and Training Departments as needed

Required Education/Experience:

A MINIMUM OF 8 YEARS OF MARINE PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Physical Demands:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced shipyard with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. The individual will be required to be in production areas in yard and onboard ships. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders; to enter confined areas ant tanks; to work at heights. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekends. The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist, and bay be required to lift up to 50 pounds. There may be local travel and out of town travel (including air travel).

Our team is excited to put their talents to use on some of the most well-known fishing/crabbing vessels in the PNW and Alaska, pilot boats, commercial workboats, as well as working on government projects with the Navy and Coast Guard.
