Description:

Killam Apartment REIT (TSX:KMP.UN), is a growth-oriented real estate investment trust which owns, manages and develops multi-family residential properties in Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Killam is focused on maximizing its value and long-term profitability through increasing earnings, expanding the portfolio through acquisitions, and developing high-quality properties in its core markets.
We are currently searching for a dynamic Project Manager. This position will be responsible for implementing capital projects, providing direction to contractors and professionals in various project settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Participating in the planning, approving, and managing of capital spending and related budgets for Killam’s national portfolio of properties
  • Lead Capital projects related to building envelope, roofing and window replacement
  • Actively participating long-term, and ongoing, capital planning
  • Providing support to Property Managers, including technical advice related to renovations, maintenance issues, and capital projects, as well as scheduling and project planning
  • Drive process improvement relating to project management including preparation of tender documents, performing site inspections, generating deficiency lists and project close out documentation
  • Leading, negotiating, motivating, and developing relationships with managers, vendors and contractors
  • Developing organizational benchmarks and quality standards, related to capital projects, to drive ongoing improvements
  • Some travel will be required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in a similar role
  • Proven project management skills and experience
  • A degree in Engineering or Architecture would be an asset
  • Experience in the construction industry, specifically in building construction
  • Must have a good understanding of site safely requirements and ensure contractors are meeting all regulatory standards
  • Some formal project and construction management training considered an asset
  • Some formal training and/or experience in the building code, fire code, and building systems, in particular building envelope, roofing, and windows
  • Ability to investigate the cause and solution to water leaks in the building envelope
  • Proven project management skills and experience
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong decision-making skills and business acumen
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
