QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant post-secondary education in the area environmental sciences; a minimum of a diploma in environmental sciences focusing on soil science is preferred.
- A professional designation P.Ag, P.Biol. P.Eng, RT(Ag) or similar designation with qualifications to sign off on reclamation reporting.
- A thorough understanding of Alberta and Saskatchewan DSA criteria is required.
- Strong vegetation identification skills are required.
- Knowledge of the Canadian System for Soil Classification, standard environmental field practices and procedures.
- A strong understanding of OneStop would be considered and asset
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and listening skills.
- Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player.
- Must be willing to travel and work in a field setting away from headquarters. Must possess CSA approved Steel Toed Safety Boots
- Must be physically capable of performing the manual labour duties required.
- Previous experience working around heavy equipment would be considered an asset.
- Experience in a consulting environment would be considered an asset.
- Strong safety record and good driving skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and must provide current drivers abstract when applying.
Responsibilities:
- Project Management of soil and vegetation assessments (DSA’s) across Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Providing training to Junior staff members in conducting soil and vegetation assessments in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Completing technical review of DSAs and RCAs/AORs completed in Alberta and Saskatchewan with the ability to professionally sign off on the reports.
- Completing cost estimates for reclamation construction projects throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Preparing Topsoil Surveys and writing corresponding reports.
- Demonstrating commitment to meeting the defined project scope, delivering on-time and on-budget.
- Contributing to completing of client proposals and other external client communications.
- Collection of accurate field data using best practices and following standard operating procedures.
- Supporting and assisting Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination and procurement of project supplies and subcontractor services.
- Preparing and executing of technical reports.
