Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who will be responsible for the undertaking and delivery of engineering and project works to enable Veolia to meet contractual obligations across Veolia’s O&M business units nationally, primarily in Seaview, Wellington.
The focus of work will be in the area of water/wastewater project delivery, however the work of the Project Team, and therefore that of the Project Manager, will vary according to current contractual and client needs.
The role is responsible for the delivery of projects, or project components, on time, within budget and to the agreed quality standard. The scope of project work will cover all facets, from investigation (scoping) and assessment, planning and optimisation, asset solution design, procurement, construction and commissioning. The position requires the flexibility to work across all main engineering and project delivery disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree / Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Process).

EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

  • Familiarity with at least one project delivery model (PMI, Prince2 or Agile)
  • Five years’ experience in a water or wastewater project environment
  • Proven design, construction and project management experience
  • Experience in capital works design and delivery (investigation, design and / or construction and project delivery).
  • The ability to work across all the main engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, process, electrical)
  • Ability to deliver independent project management services in a client/customer facing environment
  • Ability to manage projects up to $2M within time and budget constraints
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues in a networked matrix organisation
  • Ability to understand and use appropriate business and contracting models and organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities.
  • Conversant with QA systems such as ISO9001 and ISO14001 and contract documentation such as NZS3910:2013 & NZS3916:2013 Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work.

You are able to pivot and quickly adapt to changing circumstances, have strong analytical skills and focus on quality of work. High degree of personal integrity. As a confident and effective communicator you have the ability to build strong relationships and interact at all levels of organisations.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of all Project delivery tasks from project initiation through to project closure
  • Responsible for investigating, designing, development, planning, scheduling, conducting and / or coordinating the technical and project management / delivery aspects of projects
  • Preparation of internal project and senior management approval documentation necessary for the securing of project funding
  • Preparation of engineering service proposals, tender submissions and Project documentation, including their subsequent presentation to the client
  • Work across all the main engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, process, electrical);
  • Procurement activities relating to the project delivery
  • Client, contractor and supplier liaison and communications
  • Budget monitoring and project delivery tracking through regular Earned Value Analysis and Gannt chart updates (programme and performance)
  • Resolving of project engineering and project management issues
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams on individual projects
  • Support to the development of the Project Team
  • Contributing to business development efforts in and outside the current client base
  • Contribution to the management of the Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work
