Description:
The Project Manager PM has an overall responsibility for project delivery.
- Scoping, Conceptual Design, Estimating and preparation and completion of internal Quotation documentation (SEQ).
- Project Execution, Start Up and Commissioning
The PM supports sales throughout the sales process of equipment projects starting as early as possible during the discovery phase and ending after customer approved commissioning.
The PM mentors Project Engineers (PE) and Senior Project Engineers (SPE) on complex or larger projects and deputises for the SPM.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- 12 years relevant project management work experience desired in an appropriate Process, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
- Degree, HND or similar desirable
- Excellent communication skills required
- Proven planning, organizational and Scope, Budget, Timeline implementation skills ideally involving multiple projects at the same time
- Experience in water treatment related projects essential.
REQUIREMENTS
- Post holder must hold a full UK Driving licence and must be able to travel and stay overnight as required.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all WCS GROUP Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
- Lead & co-ordinate stakeholders to adhere to engineering processes & Team Performance Plan (TPP).
- Identify project stakeholders and confirm technical and contractual scoping
- Ensure scope components are selected & sized adequately for the duty, and the process, mechanical and electrical integration requirements are designed to meet the scope requirements.
- Ensure any and all assumptions, customer or other responsibilities & exclusions outside scope of offer are clearly identified and communicated in the proposal document
- Endeavour to provide value-added, differential advantage in proposals focusing on:
- How we can decrease cost of operation
- Improve operating efficiency
- Minimise Environmental, Health and Safety issues
- Enhance customer competitive advantage
- Instigate Peer or internal management review of proposal prior to submission according to Engineering processes.
- Assist sales staff where required in sales process/iterations and technical queries prior to closing of sale
- Undertake Order Review to confirm:
- Technical compliance with offer
- Deliverables timeframe compliance with offer
- Commercial compliance with offer
- Contractual compliance with offer
- Write order acknowledgement registering gaps form Order Review. Seek management/supervisory guidance on the appropriate action prior to submission to customer.
- Organise Project Kick-off meeting with the customer and sales person and introduce Project Execution Plan (PEP) where appropriate according to Engineering Processes. All kick-off meetings must include:
- Clear Scope detail confirmation
- Roles, responsibilities, communications,
- Project deliverables, timeframes (Gantt chart) and success criteria
- H&S and project management methodologies including Change Order mechanisms
- Establish clear project design detail to meet requirements, incorporating any new information from Kick-off meetings.
- Initiate and track progress of procurement of items and activities to meet scope, budget, timeline requirements
- Co-ordinate off-site assembly and testing where appropriate
- Control and report progress of project via regular reviews against scope milestones, expenditure v plan, and technical and contractual variations.
- Schedule and minute progress meetings with customers at key milestones and extraordinary events (changes to scope)
- Prepare, schedule and supervise site work (installation and commissioning) by subcontractors and internal WCS GROUP specialists, and co-ordinate WCS GROUP scope activity with out of scope activity owners.
- Capture success criteria during commissioning and handover
- Produce handover documents according to engineering Processes.
- Seek and share learning and continuous improvement
- Actively participate in engineering and other WCS GROUP meetings
- Assist with ISO audits.
- Deputize for Engineering Manager
