Description:
PROJECT MANAGER – (FULL-TIME)
Westview Projects is a general contracting company that operates in Eastern Ontario. Headquartered in Ottawa, Westview Projects specializes in offering construction management services to institutional, multi-residential, commercial and retail clients.
Reporting to the Operations Team, the Project Manager is responsible for disseminating the main contract to the project team members for execution. The Project Manager plans, schedules, organises and evaluates projects from start-to-finish, according to schedule, specifications and budget. The Project Manager oversees and resolves deficiencies, ensuring the team executes successfully and the project is completed satisfactorily.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Monitor project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, safety and environment and quality control.
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with the project team, trade contractors, architects, consultants and our clients.
- Coordinate total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
- Project planning and execution.
- Conduct site tours, safety inspections and leading by example to ensure policies, procedures and standards are adhered to.
- Ensure comprehensive project close-out.
- Manage project meetings.
- Mentor, coach, supervise and assess performance of direct reports and team members.
- Assist in securing new work by participating in estimates, working with sub-contractors and participate in proposals and presentation.
- Lead negotiation of claims and disputes with the owner and sub-trades.
- Perform other duties as requiredSkills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree engineering or construction management
- A minimum of 5+ years progressive construction experience, including leadership and mentoring.
- Knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, problem solving and timelines.
- Familiarity with construction project management software programs, Jonas Premier, Plan Grid, Blue Beam.
- Knowledge of relevant construction law and building codes.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems related to construction, sequencing and staffing.
- 1-year estimating experience preferred.
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand and employ engineering/construction plans/specifications, methods and procedures
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish a good working relationship with many different people, including owners, other manager, designers, supervisors and tradespeople.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
