The Project Manager will work with multi-disciplinary teams overseeing project staff and sub-contractors, providing guidance to ensure each project meets operational standards. This includes developing a detailed scope of work, budget and schedule, conducting risk management assessments and maintaining health, safety and environmental compliance.

REQUIREMENTS

o A four-year degree in Biosystems, Geosciences, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a University of recognized standing and 6 years of directly related experience.
o Membership in EGM - Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba or be eligible to obtain one.
o Demonstrate an understanding of project management methodologies and principles.
o Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
o Must be able to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and meet project deadlines.
o Demonstrate active listening and an ability to communicate technical concepts with non-technical stakeholders.
o Experience related to projects associated with generation operations, equipment upgrades or unit overhauls and working knowledge of transmission, distribution, HVDC or natural gas plant operation as it relates to design, construction and commissioning activities would be considered an asset.
o Additional project management training or certification would be considered an asset.
o Sound knowledge of fundamentals of electrical, civil, and mechanical disciplines.
o Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
o Strong computer skills including experience with scheduling software, and the Microsoft Office suite of software. Experience in the use of SAP and P6 to oversee capital budgets and schedules would be considered an asset.
o Mature judgment and proven ability to carry out assigned duties with a minimum of direction and supervision.
o Knowledge of Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and associated regulations.
o Experience in performing supervisory responsibilities such as conducing performance reviews, personal development plans, interviews, and discipline, is considered an asset.
o Demonstrated ability in providing mature leadership and delegating authority related to planning, organizing, and motivating the activities of a group of engineers and technical support staff.
o Demonstrated high degree of initiative and ability to maintain working relationships and interact effectively with others at all levels, both inside and outside the corporation.
o Demonstrated application of Project Management theory including scoping, estimating, scheduling, cost control, risk management and change control in an engineering or construction environment.
o Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities:

  • Project management support for assigned investments from the planning phase to project closure on power generation projects.
  • Primarily includes program items including foundation replacements, protection replacements, disconnect/breaker replacements, battery bank and charger replacements, instrument (PT & CT) replacements and guardrail installations at various locations.
  • Provide project management support including working with consultants, suppliers, contractors, and in-house personnel, for assigned projects from the planning phase to project closure.
  • Develop detailed project plans that include scope, schedule and budget.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring they meet project specifications.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Monitor project progress, quality of work and materials used to maintain project standards.
  • Prepare required reports and forecasts.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments – identifying and developing strategies to reduce risks
  • Conduct project evaluations and lessons learned to improve future projects.
  • May be required to travel and work outside of normal business hours. Potential for periodic field work for durations of about 2 weeks at a time
