Qualifications/Skills:

  • Master’s degree in a healthcare field or health administration is required.
  • Current certification in Project Management (PMP designation preferred).
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible project management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in leading projects or teams, including demonstrated skills in using project management methodology, applying methods and standards, estimating, and tracking time and efforts, allocating and deploying resources.
  • Knowledge of full development process – including requirements analysis, design, development, deployment, testing, and maintenance is an asset.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with departmental and organization objectives.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across sectors.
  • Proven experience in managing budgets and financial reporting.
  • Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and strong research skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
  • A lived experience and understanding of the cultural beliefs and practices of at least one of the traditional territorial holders of the Toronto area.
  • Has knowledge of and is familiar with Indigenous data sovereignty principles and frameworks, including how they are operationalized.
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with project partners, analyze and develop project planning initiatives, defining tasks and timelines with the goal of optimizing achievement of project deliverables on schedule and within budget for projects that have cross-organizational impact. Of note, this will be done in accordance with an Indigenous governance framework, strength-based approach, and promotion of Indigenous pedagogies and ways of being.
  • Supports leadership in ensuring that priorities, tasks and timelines are established and understood and to implement strategic initiatives ensuring broad organizational alignment.
  • Proactively identify and manage changes in project scope and devise contingency plans as required.
  • Monitor project risks and identify escalating issues related to strategic priorities implementation and performance.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and partners in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Prepare quarterly and year end activity and budget reports, communicate progress, milestones and other key project metrics to project leads and internal/external partners.
  • Relationship building and maintenance of current partnerships and strong relations.
  • Centralizing and creating culturally safe frameworks and processes.
  • Cultural safety and humility standards are central to this role. The Indigenous Project Manager bridges research, program design, and clinical applications through an Indigenous lens.
  • Coordinates, moderates, and develops agendas for standing monthly calls, identifies challenges/barriers, troubleshoots.
  • Contribute to WCH’s external relations and advocacy agenda by working with leadership to prepare strategically driven position papers, proposals, briefing notes and business cases as required, in collaboration with corporate and clinical teams.
  • Works with WCH Finance Department to manage project-related expenses and financial reporting.
  • Develop, monitor and report process and outcome measures that facilitate implementation of targeted projects, ensuring that senior sponsors have appropriate information for decision-making.
    As a role model and champion, you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
