WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As a Project Manager reporting to Head of Projects you will be responsible for delivering Wartsila Defence Solutions Ltd (WDSL) projects. Project types vary from customer delivery, operational development, business transformation to product or solution developments.
Due to your effort, customers, suppliers, and internal colleagues (Engineers, Customer Service, Procurement, Quality, workshops etc), know what is expected from them and what is the latest status of the project. You know how to manage your projects within budget and plan taking in consideration resources, quality, and safety.
Due to our worldwide projects, you will be in contact with people from different nationalities, languages, and cultures. You may be required to travel internationally occasionally. The location for this position is from Havant office however our clients are truly global.

AS PROJECT MANAGER, YOUR WORK WILL FOCUS ON THESE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop project plans & execute the delivery of contracts/business cases according to the agreed scope and contractual requirements and effectively managing change.
• Collaborate with internal and external global multifunctional teams including Senior Business Leaders, Senior Managers, Engineers, Field Service and Sales, leading, and managing the project lifecycle ensuring that all internal and external parties are effectively communicated, resources allocated, and expectations set.
• Ensure that effective customer relationships are maintained and developed to ensure that we become a business partner of choice and provide scope for further sales opportunities.
• Communicate with the project team including our business partners resolving conflict where needed.
• As part of the WDSL Project team, evaluate and present project proposals against feasibility, risk, business value/profit.
• Continuously seek to improve the way of working to enable effective project delivery and effective collaboration.
• Monitor and report project KPI’s including costs, schedule and quality and initiate any appropriate corrective action(s) to ensure effective project delivery and budget control.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, environmental policies and company process and procedures.
• Be a representative of the business in project meetings with management teams, customers, internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform reviews and analysis of the WDSL project management maturity working the project team to create and implement the roadmap to improvement.
• Capture and communicate lessons learned.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:

• Strong background within technical or commercial Project Management.
• Experienced practitioner using the PM gated model.
• Hold a current Project Management qualification or can demonstrate relevant experience and working towards such a qualification as a PMP, APM PMQ.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to travel globally to meet customer demand and project timescales.
• Knowledge of the marine and or defence industry would be an advantage.
• Experience utilising EVM would be an advantage.
• Computer literate with competent knowledge of MS Office.
• Effective communication skills and delivering projects remotely using virtual meeting tools.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be fluent in English language both verbal and written.
  In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 20%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
