INTRODUCTION:
Peninsula Community Legal Centre (PCLC) is one of 49 community legal centres in Victoria. It operates across six local government area in the south east of Melbourne – Cardinia, Casey, Frankston, Glen Eira, Kingston and Mornington Peninsula. PCLC is headquartered in Frankston and has branch offices in Bentleigh, Cranbourne, Frankston North and Rosebud.
PCLC works to empower and support disadvantaged community members of the South Eastern and Westernport region to use the law and legal system to protect and advance their rights and broaden their awareness of their responsibilities. PCLC offers general legal advice and casework services, specialist family law, tenancy, family violence, rooming house and social work programs, and is active in community legal education and law reform work.
DESCRIPTION:
The Project Manager, Youth Theatre Project will work in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer, Director Legal Services and the Community Engagement, Education and Legal Policy Officer to implement the delivery of the “No Pressure” Youth Theatre Project.
The position ( 4 days p/w) is for a period of 24 months and will be based at our Frankston office, some work from home will be available.
The Youth Theatre Project is an interactive theatre project for young people and secondary school students which provides legal education on youth crime and family violence, and explores common themes of coercive control, controlling behaviour and peer pressure.
The Project Manager will work with a theatre director, trauma consultant and key stakeholders to develop the script and professional actors to deliver the performances in secondary schools across three local government areas. The project will build and expand on PCLC’s existing award winning “This Is Not Who I Want to Be theatre project.
Key Accountability Areas
Developing, managing and implementing the project plan
Contributing to the project design, governance arrangements and operational integration
Work closely and collaboratively with project partners, school communities and youth organisations to support the Youth Theatre project objectives.
Ensuring project deliverables and milestones are delivered on time and within budget
Identifying, assessing, managing and monitoring project risks, issues and benefits
Facilitate co-design with focus groups and feedback from young people
Organise and facilitate the theatre performances.
Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant information, resources and referral options for participants of the project.
Needs to be confident in effectively engaging and communicating with young people within the school environment
Liaise with community partners within an integrated and holistic service delivery model
Participate in regular supervision and project meetings.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably in law, communications, community development and/or extensive experience in the youth sector.
Proven experience in a program management and/or project coordination role ideally within the community or youth space.
Ability to set priorities, monitor workflow, maintain deadlines, exercise initiative and judgment in changing environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire partner organizations and project participants
Ability to innovate and influence change
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with a diverse range of community members and partners.
Ability to work autonomously, while maintaining connection and communication with colleagues and stakeholders.
