Description:

Applications are invited for the position of Project Officer, Global Education Projects in the Global Education and Training Division, located at the Niagara Corporate Business Centre located next to the Daniel J. Patterson Campus. The salary range is $30.00 /hr (Pay Band F - $30.00/hr to $34.77/hr) for a 35 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary. This is an Appendix D, temporary position as per Article 17.3.1 of the Support Staff Collective Agreement and is set to commence in March 2024 and will conclude in December 2024. It may be subject to an extension by mutual agreement of the parties.
Reporting to the Manager, Global Education Projects, the successful candidate will support project management of the delivery of exceptional educational experiences that make a difference in the lives of global students, learners, faculty, and international education stakeholders through global project contracts. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the acquisition and management of international projects including institutional partnerships, global capacity building projects, technical assistance projects, international contract training and overseas program delivery. The position will require travel within Canada and overseas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) year diploma or degree in arts, science, business, or education with major course work involving an international focus (i.e., international studies, international development, science, political or social sciences, and environment studies) or similar field of study
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in project support, research and report-writing
  • A proven ability to work in an inter-disciplinary and multicultural team environment
  • Significant experience consulting on or training activities/global development practices in tertiary education institutions
  • Significant knowledge of international protocols followed by tertiary education institutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • High level of proficiency with using MS Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Teams and Outlook), and Zoom (or a similar application); and knowledge of cloud software such as Asana, Sharepoint, and Wufoo
  • Strong organizational, project management, and reporting skills
  • Must be able to balance conflicting priorities within a constantly changing environment
  • Self-starting and highly motivated individuals with exceptional adaptability will succeed in this position
  • Experience handling confidential information with discretion is essential

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct project development research – proactively seek out new opportunities through Devex and other websites posting tenders for international capacity building opportunities
  • Write proposals to various Canadian and international agencies and multilateral banks
  • Prepare technical, narrative, and financial reports for internal and external audiences, including required project reports to funders
  • Database entry and management
  • Coordination with outsourced vendors and clients to meet administrative project deadlines
  • Provide ongoing administration support and expertise in areas as needed
  • Provide logistical support with project travel planning and coordination
  • Support communications to project teams
  • Ongoing monitoring of administrative project deadlines
  • Coordinate visiting delegations and follow appropriate protocols
  • Support the development of communication tools such as web copy, social media content, reports, presentations, case studies, marketing materials, and other products as required
  • Assist in strengthening relationships between Niagara College and partner organizations, institutions, and countries through project contracts and global engagement activities
  • Liaise with host-country expertise, determine and comply with legal requirements
  • Support the financial reporting processes including timesheet reporting and budget preparation and project expense reconciliation
  • Support travel expense reporting by working with technical experts on submitting travel authorization requests, per diem and travel cash advances and reconciliation
  • Other related duties as required
