Description:

Salary: £45,700
Closing date: Sunday, 2 February 2025
Contract type: Permanent.
The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.
We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.
These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.
Wellcome’s Mental Health team has a long-term remit to fund research that leads to an increased ability to act earlier and to use personalised interventions to prevent people from being held back by mental health problems, focusing in on depression, anxiety and psychosis.
We are looking for a Project Officer to join our Mental Health Translation team.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
We are looking to recruit one Project Officer to sit within the Mental Health Translation team, whose remit is to identify and fund forward translation projects focused on development of novel tools and interventions, working with partners as appropriate to ensure reach and sustainability within complex systems including in low resource settings. This may include development of novel interventions but also modification of existing ones to make them more effective and maximise impact, and may range from the cellular to the societal, whilst all the time paying attention to the specific needs of particular contexts.
What will I be doing?

This Project Officer will ensure that the work of the Translation Team is well supported and coordinated, and the projects we develop are commissioned, managed, and delivered in a way that maximises their potential. Our Mental Health Translation Project Officer will be making key contributions to our strategic goal of a world where no-one is held back by mental health problems.

  • Manage the delivery of work streams and individual projects within the Mental Health Translation portfolio.
  • Support the development and oversight of processes to support the work of the Mental Health Translation team and consultants
  • Contribute to Mental Health Translation team’s monitoring of progress against its delivery plans.
  • Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

Is this job for me?

  • Experience working in a project delivery environment and familiar with project management tools, processes and practice.
  • An interest in the current state of and trends in mental health research.
  • Experience within the life and biomedical sciences is preferred but not required.
