mothers2mothers (m2m) is an African Primary Health Care organisation that employs women living with HIV as community health workers across 10 African nations. These “Mentor Mothers” deliver integrated health services at clinics and in communities to ensure everyone, everywhere, has access to the services they need to be healthy and stay in care. Over the next five years, this proven, peer-led model is being scaled up to double down on ending HIV, as well as to tackle new health challenges and reach more people - all with the aim of building a fairer, healthier future. Job Description
The Project Officer supports the UNICEF-funded Government of South Africa-administered Young Mothers Program through focus on Technical and Strategic Information support to institutionalise the pregnant adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) Peer Mentor Model and improve the access, uptake, and quality of care for children and adolescents living with HIV in three districts in Gauteng province (Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, City of Johannesburg), and the Sekhukhune district in Limpopo.
The role involves providing technical assistance, training, and capacity building to ensure the successful execution of health initiatives, with a particular focus on AGYW HIV prevention programs. The incumbent will work closely with the Senior Technical Advisor to implement the project workplan, monitor implementation and facilitate quality improvement interventions for programme improvement. This will include contributing to project deliverables such as reports. The Project Officer will work closely with provincial, district, and sub-district level stakeholders to ensure success of the programme.
This position is based in Pretoria, reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public health, social sciences or related field
• Minimum of five years’ field experience in public health work with a focus on RMNC&AH, VTP, or HIV/AIDS programming, with at least two years’ in a supervisory role
• Strong technical knowledge of VTP, RMNC&AH, and paediatric HIV programming
• Experience in the implementation of AGYW HIV prevention programs
• Demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance to NGOs and government health departments
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including experience working with UNICEF, PEPFAR, USAID, local department of health
• Experience in drafting project workplans, reports, and budgets
• Familiarity with quality assurance, quality improvement and M&E tools.
• Experience in training and capacity building for health facility staff, lay health workers, and Peer Educators.
• Experience in with use of Department of Health (DoH) tools an advantage
