Description:
Position Title: Project Officers (2)
Title of Project: Project COPE: Circular Operations for a Plastic pollution-free Environment
Base: Metro Manila (Quezon City and Caloocan City)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Period: 2 years
WWF’s No Plastic in Nature (NPIN) Initiative was founded in 2018 and its goal is to stop the leakage of plastic by 2030. Our goal is to stop the flow of plastic entering nature by 2030 through the elimination of unnecessary plastic; doubling reuse, recycling, and recovery; and ensuring the remaining plastic is sourced responsibly.
To further this initiative, WWF-Philippines shall implement Project COPE (Circular Operations for a Plastic pollution-free Environment) with the goal of helping address the urgent issue of plastic waste pollution by reducing plastic waste leakage into the environment through increased recovery, recycling, and reuse. The project establishes a replicable system that integrates Local Government Units (LGUs) and waste workers, emphasizing social inclusion to foster the development of sustainable and circular solid waste management (SWM) systems across project sites nationwide. With a focus on improving and strengthening SWM systems in targeted locations, the project aims to enhance circularity, establish cooperative models among waste workers, and implement replicable models that strengthen engagement between LGUs and informal waste workers, while enhancing their SWM systems.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the LGUs of Quezon City and the City of Caloocan, government agencies, other stakeholders, and partner communities to ensure smooth and strategic project implementation.
- Under the supervision of his/her supervisor, support in implementing and materializing on-site activities to achieve project targets and results.
- Lead logistics preparation in rolling out project activities in Barangay Bagong Silangan (Quezon City) and Barangay Bagong Silang (Caloocan).
- Lead data gathering, on-site monitoring, and ensure proper documentation, including but not limited to photos, videos, and success stories of the project.
- Co-facilitate capacity building/enhancement workshops and other project activities, as needed.
- Support his/her supervisor in developing communication strategies, training manuals, and/or learning materials for capacity building/enhancement activities, as needed.
- Work closely with his/her supervisor in preparing project documents, drafting periodic reports, as well as updating work plans and budgets.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in regular planning and assessment meetings with staff vis-à-vis set plans.
- Perform other duties relevant and necessary to accomplish project objectives, as may be assigned from time to time.
