About the team
We are looking for an individual with the ability and expertise to work on environmental land management projects who wishes to take the next step in their career and join our growing Land Management team.
Our ambitious Sustainable Hertfordshire Strategy includes a commitment to improve biodiversity across Hertfordshire by 20% before 2050, and this is your opportunity to play a vital role in making this target a reality.
The Countryside and Rights of Way Service works in partnership with private landowners, communities and other local authorities to develop and deliver projects that enhance the environment for people and wildlife. Our Land Management team has a broad project portfolio encompassing woodland management, heathland restoration, chalk river restoration and developing old railway lines as active travel routes.
About the role

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing a professional advisory service to a range of land managers
  • Writing management plans and proposals for environmental improvements
  • Securing external funding
  • Producing specifications, procuring works and managing delivery through contractors
  • Working collaboratively with our Access and Communities teams.
  • Managing a diverse range of projects simultaneously at different stages in the project lifecycle
  • Working in locations ranging from urban green spaces to our National Nature Reserve

About you
You may already have a track record in the delivery of environmental land management projects. You will already be used to consensus building to establish support for ideas, and working independently and collaboratively with a range of colleagues, professionals, partners and members of the public.
You will enjoy and have examples of proactively managing a range of projects from start to finish often with changing priorities, where your flexible approach ensures business priorities are achieved.
A full current driving licence is essential, and you will be expected to work in rural locations with difficult terrain.
You will be joining a talented and experienced land management team and will be supported in your training and development.
