Responsible for providing proofreading support to the Marketing Communications (Marcom) team. The Proofreader is responsible for closely reviewing moderately complex operational communication projects to address market requirements, brand guidelines, and general quality control.

Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS degree in Communications, Journalism, English or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of professional proofreading experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Experience in health insurance or managed care preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills and a solid command of the English language.
  • Working knowledge of Associate Press style guidelines.
  • Health plan experience preferred.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your proofreading skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs, proofreading software, and tools.
  • Adobe Workfront experience.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard style guides, such as AP Style or Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong research skills and ability to fact-check information.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accuracy of materials produced by Marcom, and compliance with Corporate, Brand, Legal and Plain Language guidelines.
  • Proofreads high-profile design and copywriting projects.
  • Helps educate internal and external writers and designers on updates to the Corporate, Brand, Legal and Plain Language guidelines.
  • Maintains strict adherence to marketing/production deadlines and provides final sign-off on projects at file release stage to ensure accuracy.
  • Review and proofread written materials, including letters, forms, and website content ensuring they are free from grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors.
  • Verify accuracy and consistency of information presented in the content based on state/market requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to the writer style guide, branding guidelines, and editorial standards.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Coordinators to provide feedback and suggestions for improving clarity, coherence, and overall quality of content.
  • Identify and correct inconsistencies in tone, style, and voice within a given piece of content.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy while working with tight deadlines.
  • Track changes and revisions using appropriate software or tools, and communicate any necessary revisions to the content team.
