Description:

The Senior Property Accountant will oversee the financial accounting, reporting, and analysis for a portfolio of real estate properties. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of real estate accounting principles. The Senior Property Accountant will collaborate closely with property managers, asset managers, and other finance professionals to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience provided the 3 years are in property accounting or public with real estate clients.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in property accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of GAAP.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of properties. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Provide variance analysis and explanations.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the processing of accounts payable and receivable. Ensure timely payment of invoices and collection of receivables.
Cash Management: Monitor and manage cash flow for properties. Prepare cash flow forecasts and ensure adequate liquidity for property operations.
Lease Administration: Review and interpret lease agreements. Ensure accurate billing and compliance with lease terms.
Audit and Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits. Prepare and provide documentation for tax filings and regulatory compliance.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making. Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed.
System and Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Utilize property management and accounting software effectively.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with property management, leasing, and operations teams. Provide financial insights and support for property-related decisions.
