The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is made up of a team of experts who understand local communities and assess every property in Ontario. What we do provides the very foundation that municipalities use to base the property taxes needed to pay for the services we use every day.
Responsibilities:
WHAT MAKES YOU GREAT FOR THIS ROLE?
You are an organized team player who can participate in determining the assessed values of complex properties within an assigned group/portfolio and respond to the challenges of the value.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Maintain current property values, review and respond to formal challenges such as Request for Reconsiderations and Appeals to properties in an assigned portfolio
- Inspect, collect, research and analyze data relevant to the valuation process
- Apply appropriate valuation approach(es) as required by property classification
- Communicate and provide appropriate customer service to MPAC employees, taxpayers and municipalities
- Appear before tribunals and courts as an expert witness to explain the methodology and process for determining the assessed value
- Identify economic factors that may influence the assessed values of complex properties throughout Ontario
- Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external business stakeholders to proactively communicate valuations and standards
- Be involved in the following property types: Regional Shopping Centres, Power Centres, Large Office Buildings
