SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Application Development

  • Support managers and researchers in applications
  • Organizes and packages supporting documentation such as insurance certificates, letter of incorporation and contracts as part of the proposal application
  • Understands funding requirements and ensures the partner and project are eligible to apply
  • Organizes funding application portal requirements including (NSERC, CFI, OCI, SSHRC)
  • Tracks application submission information and results

Proposal Writing

  • Supports researchers with development of research proposals including project plans, methodology, activity table and project budget
  • Supports in review of proposals under supervision of Associate Director, Development and Strategic Initiatives to ensure information required is in included and grammar and formatting are correct
  • Ensure partners of new researchers are satisfied with research project activities and progression and identify any concerns

Other Duties As Assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 year Post-Secondary diploma in Business Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • Minimum of one year experience in proposal preparation and writing
  • Experience in developing research proposals and working with researchers and partners
  • Understanding of various funding programs (local, regional provincial and federal programs, NSERC (ARTP, Mobilized ARD) SSHRC , OCI (VIP), FedDev (AMF, ICP), CFI-CIIF, ORF), proposal process and its requirements, technical and strategic vision behind the project and funding programs
  • Experience in assisting researchers with their research proposals and development activities
  • Awareness about College, local, provincial and national strategies and priorities
  • Comprehensive awareness about College capacity in various areas of focus
  • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with people at all levels in and outside of the College

The incumbent should possess the following abilities:

  • Proficiency in a variety of computer programs including word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Windows, graphics, e-mail and the Internet
  • Superior research and documentation skills and ability to write to deadlines
  • Ability to work as a team as well as independently
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexibility, creativity, confidence, enthusiasm, initiative and reliability
  • Proven ability to complete multiple assignments within timeframes assigned, superior written and oral communication skills
