Argus Fire launched in 1982, is part of the Mitie Group. We are the UK’s class-leading supplier of fire detection and fire protection systems .We design, install, and maintain all types of automatically operating fire extinguishing systems and electronically activated fire detection and alarm systems for large projects through to servicing small standalone products. We currently have over 200 employees and have offices based in Stourbridge (HQ), Manchester and London.

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to expand our operations from the Sales & Estimating Department in our head office in Stourbridge.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Proven technical experience in fire sprinkler systems with a good understanding of reading construction drawings and understanding technical specifications.
- Experience of developing technical sprinkler quotations/bids.
- Understanding of Sprinkler related standards BS EN12845, BS9251, BS5306 & BS9990.
- Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities.
- Can demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and efficiency.
- Proven IT skills with experience of MS office packages.
- Ability to work independently as well as an effective team player in a friendly and ambitious team.
- Friendly and outgoing personality with the natural ability to engage with customers/clients representing Argus Fire professionally and positively
- Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable numerical skills
- Willingness to learn and develop
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE, IN THE FOLLOWING, WOULD BE AN ADVANTAGE, BUT TRAINING CAN BE PROVIDED FOR:
- Special hazard/industrial projects.
- Energy from Waste / Power Generation projects.
- Knowledge of international standards and insurer requirements including NFPA/FM standards.
- Knowledge of bespoke mechanical fixed firefighting systems including sprinkler systems, deluge systems, foam systems etc.
- Knowledge of gas suppression systems.
- Knowledge of specific IT tools such as MS Projects and Bluebeam.
Responsibilities:
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIAL RISKS PROPOSALS ENGINEER
As a key player in our Sales & Estimating Department you will analyse blueprints, specifications and collaborate with internal team members to produce comprehensive cost estimates, to ensure our special hazard fire protection systems, meet the correct code of practice and fulfil the clients requirements. You will have a strong understanding of fire protection systems, coupled with excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review customer specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and other project documentation to produce an accurate quotation. By applying fire systems knowledge and obtaining costs from suppliers.
- Liaise with the design engineers, project management team and leadership to gain technical input into the quotation.
- Produce and submit multi discipline fire protection proposals and issue to client teams, within set deadlines.
- Liaise with clients & suppliers.
- Progress submitted quotations to obtain client feedback & prepare win/loss KPIs and lessons learnt.
- Attend internal and client meetings.
- Professionally interact with our customers either through email, telephone or site visits to further client satisfaction & increase sales opportunities.
- Lead internal handover meetings upon project award.
