Protective Services at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre is 24 hours a day 7 days a week department who employs sworn Community Peace Officers that ensure a superior level of safety and security to all patients, visitors, and employees while they are in attendance at our facilities. The services provided are an integrated approach with our clinical partners using a patient and family centered care approach with emphasis on customer service. Protective Services as the law enforcement and disaster response unit within the facility will utilize and enforce regulatory, federal, provincial, and municipal legislation/policies to ensure the delivery and access of healthcare. As a member of Protective Services, the Protective Services Officer II will interact with a myriad of select populations all with unique and or specialized needs. It is Protective Services’ paramount goal to assist in maintaining a space that all people can safely access and deliver quality healthcare. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.
