Prototype Lighting Technician

SUMMARY:

The Prototype Lighting Supervisor directs the production and staff of the Prototype Lighting department. Assisting in the quoting and development of new and old projects. Works closely with other departments to ensure all areas are developed to a successful launch and outcome.

Candidate will be responsible for the production and management of manufactured tooling and components.
Candidate will prepare materials and process selection studies, coordinate lighting build process design activities with engineering, develop cost models and develop manufacturing implementation plans with P&M operations and / or supply chain.
Candidate will assist in development of technical solutions to complex design problems that require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Lead transition planning of build and assembly from R&D to volume manufacture including development of investment and cost models, set-up of low-volume production lines, labor distribution and quality process standards.
Implement a production control system for managing low volume, diverse product manufacturing environments.
Lead training and development of department staff in efficient processes with focus on quality.
Knowledgeable of the following processes is preferred: Silicone RTV tooling, Vac cast processes, SLA post processes, detail benching, polish of polyurethane and acrylics, spray graining, assembly and finish painting . Should have knowledge of processing support equipment such as ovens, vac cast equipment, or other similar equipment. Design experience in hard and silicone tooling is required.
Require technical writing skills in support of proposal activity, reports and specifications using MS Word and Excel; good platform skills using PowerPoint for presentations.
Must have an understanding of the materials and processes utilized in polyurethane products as well as associated components testing techniques working with CAD Department to validate product integrity. Demonstrated skills and ability to organize, execute, support other disciplines and subject matter experts in completion of assigned tasks and failure investigations.
Successful, extensive background in silicone tools, acrylic and polyurethane materials with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience. Strong administrative, managerial, and interpersonal skills require. Ability to supervise personnel and coordinate workflow to meet or exceed predetermined timelines and quality levels. A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience is required. High School or GED equivalent required. A certificate from an accredited technical or industrial trades school is preferred. Advanced college course work a plus. Incumbent must possess basic hand tools for the position and upgrade such tools as required to complete the tasks assigned. Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time and allocating resources.
