Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Psychiatric Aide in the Adult Inpatient Program at the Centennial Center for Mental Health and Brain Injury in Ponoka. The Acute Services Units within the Adult Inpatient Program provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and stabilization services to individuals 18-64 years of age who have a severe and persistent mental illness and/or are experiencing an acute mental health crisis and/or addiction illness. This position requires a highly motivated individual that is keenly interested in working with people. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are large contributors to success in this position. You will report to the Unit Manager and/or designate Manager. The Psychiatric Aide is able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to support addiction and mental health patients to meet their recovery goals and assist with activities of daily living, observing and reporting any changes in condition. This position has been identified as a Recovery Alberta position effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As a Psychiatric Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients’ hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs as well as assist with organized activities or programs. In this position, you will observe and report on a patient¿s mood, health, well-being, maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals, assist with the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors as well as assist in the general support of the work area.
