ABOUT US:

Hawke’s Bay Hospital is a 364 bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke’s Bay region. In addition to psychiatry, we have a busy Emergency Department, most major medical and surgical subspecialties on site (except cardiothoracic and neurosurgery), as well as paediatrics and O&G. We are well supported by a strong regional ICU team. We have extensive Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for the position of Psychiatric Registrar for next year commencing in February and/or August 2025. The Mental Health Service offer supportive working conditions and are committed to excellent teaching.

We have training and non-training roles available:

• Training role - expected that the successful candidate will be interviewed and approved by the Lower North Island Director of Training and RANZCP to train in psychiatry (whether that be advanced or basic) based in Wellington.
• Non-training role – happy to commence in an unaccredited position, but could move to an accredited position if you join the training programme
