Psychological Therapist (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

We are seeking an experienced CBT Therapist to join our dynamic West Midlands Gambling Harms team, on a fixed term contract.
To provide high quality, evidence based cognitive behavioural therapies to adults experiencing gambling harm with complex presentations that achieve the psychological well-being and valued outcomes for people served by the West Midlands Gambling Harms Clinic.
To work at the clinic and other settings as appropriate, and see people individually and in groups, face-to-face and on-line.
To deliver services that help overcome stigma that people may face, and to work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and with a commitment to equal opportunities and equality of access to treatment.
To provide high quality, evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) services to people experiencing gambling harm with complex presentations.
To participate in the development of a high quality, responsive and accessible service delivering valued outcomes for clients and their families and carers. This includes the development of new and / or specialist CBT interventions for people experiencing gambling harm and additional needs which may require multiagency and indirect work.
To provide training and supervision for other CBT therapists within the service.
To proactively liaise with colleagues and partners across the gambling treatment system in managing referrals.

To comply with professional guidelines and standards and the overall framework of the Team’s policies and procedures and system for integrated governance

Accept referrals via agreed service protocols and assess (via telephone, on-line and face-to- face) a person’s suitability for psychological interventions to address gambling harms. Refer or signpost individuals to other sources of help and support where appropriate, including when the gambling harms clinic is not best placed to meet their current needs.
With the individual, co-produce a formulation that makes sense of their gambling behaviour and additional problems and an individualised treatment plan, and identify any support available to complete this.
With the individual, assess risk(s) to self and others and agree a plan to manage these. Ensure appropriate and timely actions and documentation, in line with Trust/ clinic protocols and procedures, and proactively liaise with colleagues and partners across the gambling treatment system to manage high risk referrals.
Deliver a high quality, evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy programme for gambling with other team members, and CBT for additional problems experienced by individuals. Therapy sessions will be offered individually and in groups, face-to-face at the clinic or other settings, and on-line.
Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.
Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients
