Description:

We are looking for a number of PTHP (casual) lecturers to join our Progression to Learning & Work Department.
Working across Entry 3 and Level 1 provisions, you will help learners to develop key personal and social skills, behaviours and attitudes that will build confidence in their own abilities and also how to demonstrate and apply these effectively. You will help your learners achieve this by using practical tasks, set in a variety of vocational contexts.
We are looking for candidates to teach general employability skills but we particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience teaching IT Skills to SEND learners.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Degree or Level 6 professional qualification
  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards a qualification within 12 Months
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of successful teaching/training and the evidence of performance /data to support it (e.g. Lesson observations, retention and achievement data), high-grade successes)
  • Experience in high-quality teaching within an HE/FE environment or equivalent related industrial experience.
  • Experience in the effective design and delivery of high-quality inclusive teaching and learning activities
  • Up-to-date knowledge of content and methods of teaching and /or supporting learning including the value and use of learning technologies
  • A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of a relevant subject area.
  • Experience in improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures

Responsibilities:

  • To design and deliver a wide range of effective and inclusive teaching and learning activities
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.
  • To develop and apply innovative approaches to improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
  • Engage in professional development in relation to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence-informed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice
  • Contribute to course development and the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery.
  • Contribute to outreach and/or widening participation activity within the Department/ School
  • Produce Plans of learning, lesson plans, assessment plans, varied learning materials and any other related activities that positively impact the effectiveness of learning.
  • Maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out.
  • Plan, deliver and assess high-quality teaching and associated activities on courses and programmes as specified by the Head of School/Department
  • Participate pro-actively in the design, development and delivery of enrichment and enhancement activity
  • To undertake research and/or scholarly activity that feeds directly into teaching and learning and as agreed by the Head of School/Department
