Description:

Equadem Network Plus focuses on bringing together diverse academic, lived experience (people living with dementia and unpaid carers), professional (health and social care), and voluntary sector expertise to discuss and co-develop solutions to inequalities in dementia diagnosis and care. Comprising seven Universities, two national dementia Charities, health and social care professionals and lived experts (carers, person living with dementia), and the UCL-based NIHR-funded `Dementia Researcher¿ lead as core team members, the Equalities in Dementia (EquaDem) Network Plus hosts various networking, capacity-building (for academic, health and social care professionals, Third Sector, and people with dementia and carers), and pilot-project activities over five years. The EquaDem Network Plus is led by Dr Clarissa Giebel in the Institute of Population Health Sciences and co-led by Professor Dame Louise Robinson at Newcastle University.
We have an exciting opportunity for a public advisor researcher (unpaid carer for someone with dementia and/or people living with mild dementia) to join our team for one day a week for four years, to support research projects and health and social care research internships. You will be joining the University¿s Dementia Research Group and be based in the Department of Primary Care & Mental Health, joining a growing team of dementia researchers and existing public advisor researchers. This is a fantastic opportunity for people with lived and caring experiences of dementia to build their research skills and contribute to meaningful research trying to identify solutions to dementia inequalities. You will be supported by the PI and the project coordinator.

Responsibilities:

¿ Supporting funded pilot research projects and health and social care research internships with co-developing study documents, analysing qualitative data (with training and support), workshop facilitation where necessary, dissemination.
¿ Supporting relevant systematic reviews (with training provided)
¿ Attending all in-person Equadem quarterly events and webinars
¿ Joining events for the linked Liverpool Dementia & Ageing Research Forum and our research group¿s monthly journal clubs
This post is part time (7 hours per week) and fixed term until 31 March 2029.
