Description:
How you’ll make a difference:
You will make a difference by working strategically and collaboratively across public health services, supporting the strategic lead by providing operational programme oversight and specialist public health knowledge, whilst managing a team of specialist public health practitioners.
The public health and wellbeing division is responsible for key programmes aimed at protecting and improving health through prevention and intervention, focussing delivery to reduce health inequalities.
What you will be doing:
- It will be your responsibility to line manage a team of specialist public health practitioners, to deliver the public health strategies and actions for your programme areas.
- It will be key for you to plan, monitor, evaluate and develop services designed to support the wellbeing of communities and individuals, contributing to the broader public health priorities of South Gloucestershire to improve public health outcomes.
- You will act as a role model for the division by promoting matrix-working and maintaining a focus on population outcome driven decision-making.
- Preparing reports to a range of groups, you will share best practise and develop relationships with stakeholders, providing expertise for prevention, intervention, and service development.
- Facing multiple and changing demands, you will meet tight deadlines and complex public health issues, and make recommendations regarding policies, services, and the wider determinants of health.
What we need from you:
- You must hold a relevant professional qualification, degree or equivalent specialist qualification or equivalent experience in the field of public health, education or social science.
- We require you to have experience in developing and delivering strategies and plans and in delivering effective health intervention programmes in partnership with stakeholders.
- It is essential that you can communicate, motivate and influence a wide range of people and partners both within Health Improvement, Health Care Settings and the Voluntary and Community Sector.
- You will have knowledge and experience of research, development and evaluation techniques including an understanding of complex data and the ability to communicate this effectively at all levels.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- This is a part-time role, working 26 hours per week. Your salary will be pro-rated to hours worked.
- This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Badminton Road, Yate and working from home.
