MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a law degree; preference for experience as an educator
  • Knowledge of and interest in constitutional issues
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including demonstrated skills in plain language writing
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • An understanding of written and verbal French is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Keeps abreast of constitutional issues and develops innovative methods for educating the public about them
  • Coordinates public legal education projects and events such as the Centre’s Constitution Workshop, Downtown Charter Series and Speaker events
  • Develops and maintains the Centre’s extensive public legal education resources
  • Ensures the Centre’s presence on social media platforms
  • Manages the Student Program: coordinates the hiring of student researchers/writers for the development of public education resources; supervises students and assigns and edits their work
  • Researches writes and edits educational material on the Constitution as appropriate
  • Oversees student volunteers
  • Forms partnerships with other public legal educational providers and legal service providers to collaborate on projects/events
  • Develops communications and marketing strategies for events and for the Centre:
  • Produces a newsletter that informs readers about Centre projects and events and links them to the Centre website
  • Analyzes and reports on usage of the Centre’s website and social media platforms and works to increase user traffic
  • Builds relationships with communications personnel within the University and external to the University
  • Assists with grant applications and reporting to funders
