MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High School Diploma
Qualifications:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Four (5) years general security, military or other public safety experience required with two (2) years of experience in a related job where required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty preferred. Two (2) years of investigative experience required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (IAHSS) & Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (IAHSS) required within one year of hire date.
Professional Certified Investigator (ASIS) required within two years of hire date.
Required to pass psychological screening during pre-employment screening.
Required to take periodic call.
Required to travel up to 50% of time to Piedmont Facilities across the System..
Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (IAHSS) preferred
BS/ BA in healthcare management/ business administration, criminal justice, or other related fields preferred
Active Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred
May be required to carry less lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or an expandable baton required
May be required to carry company approved firearm
To carry a lethal or less-lethal weapons the Investigator must pass and maintain all training requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Capable of demonstrating basic literacy and satisfactory interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to learn and operate computerized security systems, concealed weapons screening systems, CCTV monitoring equipment, advanced video analytics/ threat detection platforms, and standard 2-way radios.
Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective
security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions,
conclusions or approaches to problems.
Gather data, analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; reason
logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Establish and maintain effective cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of
work.
Possess public/human relations skills, able to cope with stress and emergency situations.
Write clear and comprehensive status reports, and correspondence; present ideas and
information effectively, visually, orally and in writing.
Ability to facilitate change processes and work collaboratively with diverse, multidisciplinary
teams.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

Investigates and determines scope, timing, and direction of crime and fraud investigations. Supports all security functions to maintain a safe and secure environment. Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects. Obtains and verifies evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses or by analyzing records. Identify case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of charges, complaints, or allegations of policy/law violations. Records evidence and documents, using equipment such as cameras, photocopy machines, electronic medical records, access control systems, etc. Testify in criminal justice proceedings concerning criminal activity investigations. Conducts other Security related functions as required by the chain of command.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate Piedmont values and excellent customer service to all patients, staff and visitors within a Piedmont Facility.
Effectively identifies case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of charges, complaints, or allegations of law violations or PHC policy violations, and effectively prepares reports that detail investigation findings.
Gather data, analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; reason
logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Conducts effective follow up investigations and inquiries into criminal complaints and criminal
activity on or affecting PHC property, employees, patients or guests.
Performs routine and assigned security investigations.
Respond appropriately to aggressive behavior and apply physical restraints.
Serves as a liaison with law enforcement partners.
Make sound judgments when utilizing force, including deadly force, to provide a safe environment.
Supervise, investigate, and ensure the proper conduct of, use of force encounters for all staff.
Demonstrate respect and courtesy in the conduct of job performance.
Maintaining training and readiness of self and public safety officers.
Maintains knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, organization policies and process.
