JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking to enhance our capabilities by bringing in an Analyst with experience in the public sector and sovereign space to further our engagement with clients on positioning public policies.
JOB SUMMARY:
As an Analyst in our Sovereign Advisory team, you will play a vital and accountable role in all aspects of supporting and leading sovereign advisory mandates.
The Sovereign Advisory function works hand-in-hand with central banks, ministries of finance and economy, and multilateral institutions globally to strengthen their end-to-end sovereign rating processes on a continuous basis. The team works with clients on their credit positioning and communications strategy inclusive of but not limited to advising on their credit ratings, broader market and multilateral engagement, contingent liabilities and public sector debt arbitrage and ESG narrative building. Given the importance of sovereign credit ratings and an increasing focus on ESG considerations in accessing international capital markets for sovereign and public sector issuers, we work with both the highest levels of government in client countries as well as internal JPM stakeholders across lines of business.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Prior work experience in the Sovereign or Public Sector field (investment bank, institutional investor, multilateral development bank, rating agency) is a core requirement.
- Deep understanding of broader public sector balance sheets, inclusive of SOE/GRE inter-linkages with general government public finances and indebtedness arbitrage between government and public sector entities
- Excellent academic background in undergraduate level economics, international relations and/or environmental studies/ sustainability.
- Experience in client interfacing roles
- Experience in product development and innovation
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent Excel and other Microsoft software skills
- Ability to draft high quality presentations and documentation
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload under pressure whilst multitasking on numerous projects
- Comfort in, and commitment to collaborative teamwork environment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Added experience in the field of debt sustainability analysis is a plus
- Postgraduate degree is a plus
- Fluency in Spanish highly preferable

Responsibilities:
The Analyst’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Daily mandate execution and ratings management for sovereign clients
- Prepare and oversee presentation materials, memorandum, briefing notes, pitches and other materials for use in interaction with CRA3 and other strategic client dialogue
- Conduct detailed credit analysis for existing sovereign clients, including sovereign balance sheet, macroeconomic, contingent liability and political analysis
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing sovereign clients and actively market advisory services to key target clients
