The Village of Warfield is seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals to serve in the capacity of Public Works Consultant (PWC).
The Village of Warfield (www.warfield.ca) is a small local government located in the West Kootenay. The Village operates with a very small unionized public works department, consisting of a Public Works Foreman (PWF) and three (3) public works operators. The public works department provides a full suite of conventional public works services and also maintains parks and municipal facilities.
The Village utilizes the services of a PWC in support of the public works department. The PWC provides professional advice and guidance to the Village’s CAO, PWF and Village Council. The majority of the work required can be provided remotely. The PWC will be available to attend the worksite, if necessary, which will depend on the nature of the project or service required.
The PWC provides service as needed and therefore time requirements will vary depending on the time of year and the nature of the work. The position may be well suited to a municipal public works professional who has recently retired and is seeking an opportunity to remain active in the field. Time requirements will vary (estimated 50 hours to 75 hours per month) but there is considerable flexibility within the framework of service to be provided and the schedule.
