£27,280 to £29,634 per annum (for exceptional performers, there is scope for further progression up to £34,090 per annum)

QUALIFICATIONS
- Level 3 qualifications or relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience of delivering user-focussed services with an emphasis on continuous quality improvement.
- Experience of systematically applying metadata to data and information.
- Experience of delivering information, advice and guidance in a research context.
- Experience of building positive relationships and working productively in collaboration with a wide range of colleagues.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

- Current knowledge of scholarly communications, Open Access and the research publishing environment.
- An understanding of metadata and how it applies to open research.

- Confident and self-assured with strong presentation skills in the context of a research environment.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve objectives on time.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to be flexible within the working pattern to meet the business needs, including working evenings, weekends, or extended hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Postgraduate or additional relevant professional qualification.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience of working within an academic library.

- An understanding of persistent identifiers in a research context.
- Current knowledge of Research Data Management practices.
- An understanding of academic publishing business models and how they apply in a higher education context.

Responsibilities:
- Working collaboratively, provide day-to-day administration of the institutional repository facilitating the submission and deposit of the University of Derby’s research and ensuring the appropriateness of content for inclusion in relation to policy, funder, publisher and legal requirements.
- Apply appropriate metadata standards on an ongoing basis to ensure the quality, consistency and discoverability of records contained in the institutional repository.
- Deliver a responsive enquiries service that supports queries from the institution’s researchers about publication practice, including appropriate open research publishing routes, submissions to the institutional repository, the storage and withdrawal of content, publisher policies, embargo periods, funder policies and copyright of material within the institutional repository, signposting to colleagues where necessary.
- Deliver training and guidance on publication practice, including deposit of University research into the institutional repository.
- Build positive and effective relationships with the University of Derby’s research community to raise awareness of and advocate for open publishing and the institutional repository.
- Maintain current awareness and knowledge of open research publishing mandates and Policies synthesising this understanding to optimise service.
- Capture, collate and report data on publication practice services, in accordance with defined measures and benchmarks.
- Support good research data management by providing guidance on the deposit of research data into repositories.
- Work collaboratively with external suppliers and colleagues across the University to identify business needs associated with the institutional repository, supporting the translation of these into functional requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the University to provide appropriate and relevant support and guidance for external research and knowledge exchange assessment exercises.
- Promote ORCiD to the University’s research community and liaise with appropriate internal and external colleagues to integrate ORCiD and other relevant services into the University of Derby repository to enable maximum discoverability of research outputs.
- Actively participate as a member of working groups across the Library and, where relevant, the wider University to develop and implement policies and procedures, contribute towards decision-making, resolve issues and implement assigned projects.
- Contribute towards the development and implementation of operational plans associated with research and publication practice.
- Actively promote and support inclusion through operational activities undertaken through the role.
- Undertake continuous personal and professional development in support of the role.
- Be flexible with working pattern and in working at different University sites and supporting other library teams, as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant University policies and procedures
