Responsibilities:
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Pūkenga - Lecturer in Oceania Design to join Te Kura Waihanga - School of Architecture in its Interior Architecture Programme. The role encompasses three studio courses that introduce students to practices of Oceanic design communication. This includes the blending of traditional and contemporary building materials and construction techniques and the development of environmentally sustainable techniques of making and manufacturing.
The position requires a thorough grounding in Pasifika and Māori interior design procedures, with an emphasis on transformation of traditional and customary material cultures into contemporary visual/aesthetic programmes. We embrace the significance and principles of indigenous knowledge systems in shaping our design practices.
