Description:
WELL Health Diagnostic Centres is looking for a skilled and certified Full-Time Pulmonary Function Technologist who will be responsible for Performing pulmonary function, lung capacity, diffusion capacity, and blood-and-oxygen tests to gather data for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
- 0-2 years of related experience.
- Current CPR certificate.
- Vmax system experience is an asset.
- An associate degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited program
- PFT testing experience in a body box setting would be an asset.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and training.
- Demonstrate effective decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and efficient administrative support to the department’s management team while ensuring the day-to-day operations are managed, coordinated, and performed.
- Responsible for ensuring patient identification, safety, and preparation are correct prior to a scan while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Greet the patient, explain the forthcoming test, position the patient and prepare him/her for examination.
- Performs pulmonary function, lung capacity, diffusion capacity, and blood-and-oxygen tests to gather data for physicians to use in diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders. Confers with patients in the treatment room to explain test procedures.
- Explains specified methods of breathing to the patient and conducts pulmonary-function tests, such as helium dilution and pulmonary mechanics, arterial blood gas analyses, and lung-capacity tests, such as vital capacity and maximum breathing capacity tests, using spirometer or other equipment.
- Measures expired air, using various analyzers.
- Observes and records readings on metering devices of analysis equipment and conveys findings of tests and analyses to physicians for interpretation.
- Observe the patient during the diagnostic procedure, note any symptoms or changes in vital signs, and summon medical aid when necessary.
- Ensure all quality control assessments are performed as required. Takes all reasonable precautions and works in compliance with related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Follow procedures for proper equipment maintenance that are completed in accordance with department standards.
- Ensure equipment and instruments are performing in an efficient and effective manner.
- Prepare and organize reports as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
