Description:

We are seeking a trade-qualified fitter who is passionate about providing secure, reliable, affordable, sustainable and high-quality drinking water supply and wastewater services to our community and protection of the environment.

ABOUT US:

  • Located on the picturesque far North Coast of NSW, bordering the Gold Coast.
  • The Tweed is a vibrant, diverse location offering a lifestyle near the water, in a rainforest or on a farm.
  • Tweed Shire Council is committed to employment equity and diversity and encourages applications from people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds in both traditional and non-traditional roles. We provide workplace adjustments for people with disability, and access to flexible work options.
  • Join an employer of choice. Professionals Australia (Local Government Engineers’ Association) has named Council the 2021 Employer of Choice for our great employment practices within NSW local government.

Responsibilities:

As a Fitter as part of our Water and Wastewater Operations team, you will undertake the maintenance, repair and upgrade of water supply and sewerage facilities, pumping equipment, fixed plant and mechanical equipment. This equipment is located at numerous treatment plants, pumping stations, and reservoirs, along the water and sewer networks across the Shire. These are essential services, and the community expects a high level of reliability and performance. You will also experience variety by providing mechanical and fitting services to other sections of Council on occasion.
The position is required to be part of a shared “On Call” rotating roster, to provide emergency response to mechanical breakdown of critical water supply and sewerage plant and equipment.
