Summary of Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, individual will complete routine tasks and assignments relative to the support of plant operations on components, parts, equipment and systems at the URENCO USA plant.
Education and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and equivalent with special consideration for 3 years of related industrial maintenance experience with pump rebuild craft or trade experience being strongly preferred. Entry level candidates must qualify to Urenco USA Pump Rebuild standards within their first year of employment.

Job Details

  • The work location for this position is Urenco USA, Eunice, NM.
  • Emergency Response requirements are negotiable.
  • Work Schedule: Professional work schedule/ with minimal night/ weekend support. Some nights and weekend work may be required. Employees are also subject to call-outs as needed.
  • Travel Required: 20% of the time or less as required.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: Controlled Access Area (CAA) Access and an L or Q level security clearance is required.
  • Work Environment: Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.

Primary Functions

  • Under direction, individual will execute work assignments in accordance with approved procedures, work orders, or supervisory direction, adhering to all safety requirements (chemical, radiological, criticality safety, etc.).
  • Comply with all operational, industrial, hazardous and radiological postings, standards, and expectations.
  • Notify Operations, Radiation Monitoring and Protection or Chemistry personnel of potential changes in plant conditions as a result of assigned work that may impact plant radiological or chemical conditions or releases.
  • Use good radiological, and chemical work practices to minimize spread of contamination and insure work is performed in a manner such that radiation dose received is “as low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA).
  • Review and understand job assignments prior to the performance of task.
  • Practice job site safety and ensure equipment is left in a safe condition during an intermission in the performance of work.
  • Ensure fire protection program requirements are met, including minimization of transient combustibles and fire prevention activities during the performance of work.
  • Review/walkdown clearances associated with pending work assignments.
  • Verify materials and tools are pre-staged to perform work.
  • Perform routine housekeeping activities and spill cleanups.
  • Effectively communicate an ongoing status of work and address concerns to supervision.
  • Accurately document work/performance history (aids in facility configuration management), including equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations and retests as applicable.
  • Complete documentation of work assignments in a real time manner to aid in the configuration management of the facility.
  • Participate in post-job debriefings, acquire / provide lessons learned and suggested work practice improvements.
  • Immediately report defects, deficiencies, or anomalies within the facility to supervision and follow the corrective action protocol as directed by pump rebuild supervision.
  • Informs direct supervisor or department lead of recommendations for corrective actions, policies and process improvements.
  • Support Emergency Response Organization.
  • Learn to initiate and apply changes to existing procedures under the direction of supervisor or assigned experienced craft technician.
  • Attain and maintain qualifications for a UUSA (URENCO USA) Craft I position through timely participation in training in accordance with UUSA training program. Initial and continuous training includes classroom instruction and testing on basic concepts/fundamentals.
  • Must be willing to be on call for a set period of time on a rotating basis.
  • Accountable for own actions and actions of others under their direct responsibility.
  • Learn and apply Nuclear, Radiological, and Industrial Safety Conscious work habits.
  • Ability to understand and utilize drawings, vendor technical information, and procedures to perform work.
  • Ability to utilize facility computers and databases to obtain information necessary to support work.Exercise good judgment and professionalism in the conduct of work to assure equipment availability/reliability and that the plant will operate safely.
