We are currently looking to fill a permanent full-time position for a Purchaser for our Farms Purchasing Department at our Leamington, ON location.
The Purchaser reports to and assists the Purchasing Manager with all aspects of purchases needed for the farm. It is their responsibility to select, evaluate, approve, and monitor supplies. This may include conducting research on potential vendors and suppliers, inspecting goods, and updating records.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good working experience with computers & software programs; Office 365.
  • Internet navigation and experience with ConnectWise a definite asset.
  • Administrative skills for entering data. Ability to type 25 words a minute.
  • People skills, relationship building.
  • Professionalism when dealing with vendors and fellow team members.
  • Ability to communicate well with suppliers and team members.
  • Works well under pressure, as well as with multi-tasking and prioritizing work while being attentive to details.
  • Works well in an open office.
  • Good problem-solving skills and willingness to get the job done.
  • Industry knowledge or purchasing experience an asset.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Office setting – walking, sitting, and standing throughout the day.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing materials, goods, products, and services and negotiating the best or most cost-effective contracts and deals.
  • Conduct price auditing to lower the bottom line. Cost should be negotiated when possible.
  • Base purchases not only on price but also quality of product, service, and when product is required
  • Establishing professional relationships with clients as well as vendors and suppliers.
  • Utilize Connect Wise to track suppliers and contacts.
  • Working closely with Maintenance and Operations to ensure proper products are sourced.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Crib to ensure the correct products are in stock.
  • Work closely with accounting to ensure proper record keeping of purchases is achieved.
  • Make sure that all purchases are assigned to a job or stock.
  • Issue a purchase order, track all purchases, and enter supporting documents into Connect Wise.
  • Conducting product research and sourcing new suppliers and vendors.
  • Updating and maintaining records of all orders, payments, and received stock.
  • Resolve any billing issues or errors related to the purchase order in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating with the purchasing receiver and following up on delays or orders that have been rescheduled.
  • Receive incoming products when required.
  • Manage Vehicle maintenance records, vehicle purchasing records, fleet licensing, and vehicle insurance.
  • Ensure that the food safety and quality policy is communicated to all suppliers of Nature Fresh.
