Description:
We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Purchasing Agent in the Metal Fabrication industry at our St. Augustine, Florida location. The primary function of this role involves identifying potential suppliers, managing inventory, placing purchase orders, and analyzing market trends for cost-effective purchasing decisions. The successful candidate will also be responsible for establishing relationships with suppliers and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Identify potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish relationships to secure best prices and quality
- Monitor inventory levels to avoid overstocking and implement inventory control systems to track and manage stock
- Place purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve any related issues
- Analyze market trends and pricing to make cost-effective purchasing decisions
- Work closely with the finance department to manage budgets and forecast future purchasing needs
- Analyze sales, pricing, demand data, market trends, and other statistical metrics to prepare inventory requirement forecasts
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, conduct performance evaluations, and address any issues related to quality or delivery
- Continuously monitor sales, inventory, and buying trends and adjust stock levels to meet demand
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements
- Research and resolve issues surrounding purchase orders, receiving documents, supplier invoices, and credit arrangements
- Coordinate the set-up of new parts and maintenance of existing part records for purchased parts in the ERP system
- Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance to management.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar role within the Metal Fabrication industry
- Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required
- Experience with Epicor and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems is essential
- Knowledge of ERP Solutions and Great Plains (GPAC) is necessary
- Familiarity with About Time software will be an advantage
- Must be able to perform Accounting Functions and manage Accounts Payable (AP)
- Understanding of Budget Processes is necessary
- Experience with Buying Processes is required
- Ability to Create, Issue, Process, and Prepare Purchase Orders is vital
- Experience with Purchase Requests is necessary
- Must have previously worked in a Purchasing Department
- Must have an understanding of Supply Management in the Metal Fabrication industry.
