POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic Product team. This one-year maternity leave contract position may offer opportunities for renewal in the same or similar role. The
Purchasing Assistant will play a crucial role in managing inventory levels and negotiating with vendors, reporting directly to the Director of Product. The ideal candidate will learn our purchasing policies and procedures and assist in maintaining optimal inventory across all SKUs and product categories.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- 1-2 years of experience in a purchasing role preferred
- 1-2 years of logistics experience
- Knowledge of the cannabis accessories industry is preferred
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Strong analytical abilities
- 1-2 years of ERP experience (SAP preferred)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid negotiation skills
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude
- Quick learner with strong vendor relationship skills
Responsibilities:
- Generate purchasing reports for buyer review
- Create Purchase Orders in SAP
- Manage and cultivate vendor relationships
- Set up new items and monthly promotions in SAP
- Plan and oversee incoming shipments from overseas and within North America
- Organize and submit customs documentation to forwarders or brokers
- Create Out-of-Stock reports for buyer review
- Manage UPC and serial number tracking
- Monitor competitor pricing and industry market trends
- Research and present new market items to the Purchasing Manager
- Respond to sales inquiries regarding incoming shipment ETAs
- Assist with provincial government product call spreadsheets
- Submit warranty return authorizations to vendors
- Investigate inventory discrepancies as needed
