JOB DESCRIPTION
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a global leader in scientific research and innovation, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Purchasing Manager. As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our Division Procurement department, ensuring flawless execution and world-class collaboration.
Responsibilities:
SCALE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and implement short and long-term goals, strategic plans, policies, and procedures aligned with Group and the group leadership team
- Translate Divisional business and Procurement objectives and targets to Category management teams and monitor category management contributions to these targets
- Deliver on key objectives (Annual Operating Plan - AOP), including delivery, quality, service, cost, innovation, and growth commitments for Division Procurement
- Coordinate long-range strategies with business partners across the Division and successfully implement plans
- Partner with Category Managers, R&D, and Engineering to deliver annual value improvements and drive competitive advantage
- Coordinate business projects, such as M&A integration
- Provide input for make or buy decisions, supplier selection, management of suppliers for product innovation projects, and vendor transitions
- Ensure alignment with business colleagues within the Group and Division on projects
- Serve as the main contact for Enterprise Processes such as Supplier Quality, Supplier Risk, and Supplier Management
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collects supplier (technical) capability requirements for current and future product portfolio as input for supplier scouting
- Gathers Division business requirements and assures compliance to regulatory requirements
- Drives and tracks compliance for indirect materials, as well as link with Distributed team for procedures
- Uses ‘scouting approach’ to influence R&D and Commercial partners earlier in NPI process, monitor product pipeline (LCM), support product platforming
- Serves as critical issue point of contact for Procurement within the Division
- Consolidates, analyses and reports on divisional procurement metrics for business reviews
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Aligns the Procurement strategy with the Divisional Leadership team
- Ensures procurement value contribution to business and supports Division initiatives
- Runs division input to category strategies (Group specific)
- Engages with supplier leadership to support the CM team and Division in achieving Thermo Fisher objectives related to quality, cost, innovation, growth and compliance
- Support the implementation of common processes, standardises work, use of tools and technologies
