JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Operations Manager-Winnipeg, the Purchasing & Production Planning Coordinator is primarily responsible for sourcing goods, maintaining the integrity of the inventory system, and scheduling production. Purchasing and Production Planning are the key tasks. The role is also responsible for evaluating vendor performance, including carriers and service providers, and optimizing the purchasing of materials and supplies. The incumbent will be accountable for achieving annual COGS (materials) reductions, holding suppliers accountable to meet delivery commitments, accurate processing of purchasing invoices, inventory optimization, leading “make vs buy” analytics, and collaborating with Management to achieve On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) performance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Diploma in Supply chain management, Logistics or Business Administration.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in supply chain, procurement or similar role;
Languages: Essential – Fluent in English spoken and written.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing products, materials, supplies, and services using an ERP system;
  • Produce a production/personnel assignment plan directed at successful fulfillment of customer orders and stock allowances;
  • Develop vendor assessment tools and regularly report on performance of vendors;
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to resolve delivery and quality concerns;
  • Ensure vendor database is current and complete;
  • Assist in negotiating of pricing and terms with key suppliers;
  • Establish redundancy in the supply chain where possible (primary, secondary, tertiary supply points), effectively creating leverage and cost competitiveness
  • Prepare purchase orders for all inventory items and services required by the business;
  • Lead min/max exercises with the Production and Distribution teams to ensure the right inventory is in place at all warehouses and distribution centres;
  • Optimize inventory levels/metrics and manage orders against them, ensure inventory levels are optimal for positive customer experiences, balanced with total inventory value;
  • Lead Continuous Improvement and Cost Reduction initiatives within the supply chain to achieve targeted year-over-year cost reductions where possible;
  • Ensure receivers match invoices and resolve any issues;
  • Assist with quarterly inventory count and help identify stock issues;
  • Generate timely reports to support decision making;
  • Support the office team to provide exceptional service to suppliers and customers;
  • CSR support of Key PTL Customers & Toll filling clients
  • Develop and implement back-order tracking processes and communication plans to internal stakeholders when product receiving and/or production delays occur;
  • Liaise with IT regarding enhancements to purchasing and inventory management tools;
  • Maintain and update BOM’s and other manufacturing records;
  • Record and maintain production logs and other associated KPI’s;
  • Work closely with the Production Supervisor to ensure the scheduled work orders are completed on time, and adjust them to reflect the correct quantities and dates;
  • Production entry and closing of work orders;
  • Maintenance and communication of the Master Production Schedule
  • Print labels when required;
  • Other related functions that may be added to the job description as required
