Altus specializes in delivering comprehensive engineering, prototyping, testing, and production capabilities, including design, fabrication, assembly, and compliance support to our Government customers. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for coordinating all procurement activities for government and contractor purchasing to ensure timely flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within WOLF EPF, aligning with project schedules and Program Manager priorities.
We are looking for an individual that can use their Purchasing Specialist experience to add value and make a significant impact as a Purchasing Specialist to NAVAIR for this opportunity.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business/technical discipline; or
  • Associate’s Degree with 4+ years of logistics, procurement, or supply systems support; or
  • High School Diploma with 6+ years of logistics, procurement, or supply systems experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience with U.S. Government supply support and DoD procurement is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and Part 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures), including market research, is a plus.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in vendor research for item availability, pricing, characteristics, and procurement lead times.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer data entry, retrieval, and standard business grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and management on various project levels.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • U.S. Citizenship and current U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance (we are open to bringing on the right candidate and allowing them to start upon receiving an interim SECRET clearance, with the expectation that they obtain a final clearance).

Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers to understand project requirements and timelines, ensuring procurement activities align with project milestones and deadlines. Develop and maintain project schedules related to purchasing.
  • Supplier Sourcing and Evaluation: Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for materials and equipment needed for the machine shop. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support project goals, ensuring they meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Purchase Orders and Requisitions: Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions in line with project schedules, inventory needs, and program regulations.
  • Inventory and Budget Management: Monitor inventory levels to guarantee timely material availability, track project budgets for purchasing activities, and identify cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing quality.
  • Supplier Performance and Compliance: Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvements when necessary. Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities and transactions, prepare cost reports and financial summaries for project management review, and compile reports on purchasing activities, including spend analysis and supplier performance.
  • Process Improvements and Training: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance purchasing efficiency, provide training, and offer support to team members on procurement processes and tools.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in procurement practices to continuously improve processes and supplier relations.
