Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
Elgin Energy is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our engineering team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in our PV and storage portfolio. The Quality Engineer will oversee quality control and assurance processes of contractors, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and set out and implement a path to the relevant ISO standards for the business unit.
As a Quality Engineer at Elgin Energy, you’ll collaborate closely with local Project Engineers, Project Managers, and the Construction, Pre-Construction, and Development teams. You’ll be instrumental in setting and maintaining quality standards, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Your role will also involve working with internal and external stakeholders to assess and improve quality across all projects.
Possessing hands-on quality assurance and field experience, you should have experience in greenfield development and construction of PV and BESS plants. An understanding of the essential equipment for PV and BESS plants is vital. You should also have a strong appreciation for quality control and assurance practices. Your collaborations will span both internal teams and external parties, such as utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and EPC/EBOP/ICP contractors.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Assist Project Engineers and the Construction and Development departments with quality assurance and control issues.
- Develop and implement quality management systems and processes for PV and BESS projects.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support through all stages of project development and construction, ensuring quality standards are met from conceptual design to project completion.
- Prepare and review quality documentation, including quality plans, inspection and test plans, quality control procedures (QCP), and audit reports.
- Promote standardisation in PV and BESS quality management practices to improve efficiency and reduce defects.
- Evaluate and approve quality-related documentation and submissions from contractors and suppliers.
- Provide technical assistance during project development and ensure quality considerations are integrated into all phases of the project.
- Draft quality control procedures (QCP) as an internal standard to benchmark contractors’ submissions against.
- Review contractors’ Project Quality Plans, Quality Control Plans, and Project Quality Procedures to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and ISO standards.
- Coordinate with Owner’s Engineer site engineers for any quality issues related to design and construction.
- Ensure quality-related elements of contracts are reviewed and adequately performed.
- Support the team in preparation of all required quality procedures and documents.
- Provide periodical analysis of quality (NCs - Non-Conformities, complaints, and lessons learned).
- Monitor adequate close-out of NCs - Non-Conformities and events. Provide feedback on major problems, ensure corrective actions, and ensure a proactive approach to prevent mistakes.
