OVERVIEW:
Are you a Python developer interested in joining an innovative, software solutions business dedicated to driving digital transformation?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Backend Engineer to join our team in expanding our core product offering and working across major client projects. The Propylon Product team is developing major new features using Python and Django and needs an engineer to support backend development. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer and will be able to demonstrate expertise in modern Python programming with a good understanding of the Python ecosystem and tooling.

This role is based in our Dublin-headquarter office, in Rathfarnham, South Dublin, though we operate a very flexible hybrid model which facilitates regular home-working.
Responsibilities:
- Work with technical team leads to design overall application architecture
- Work with the team to develop and implement custom components to seamlessly integrate existing systems with Propylon’s TimeArc suite of products.
- Drive development across backend components
- Contribute to product architecture and design
- Participate in code reviews
Requirements
- Excellent understanding of the Python programming language, its ecosystem, and idioms.
- 3+ years of professional experience with Python based MVC framework, preferably Django.
- Experience developing application APIs that utilize data and functionality exposed via REST, GraphQL, RPC etc.
- Excellent working knowledge of SQL based RDBMS, e.g. Postgres, MySQL.
- Experience with modern Python features such as type hinting, async, data classes, etc.
- Familiarity with Docker and related containerization technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience working in a multifunctional team.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with XML processing/transformation.
- Experience with document management/document workflow software and/or SAS products.
- Familiarity or work experience with DevOps workflow/principles, building CI/CD pipelines, with AWS fundamentals.
- Working knowledge with a modern JavaScript framework, e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js
