Description:
POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the VP Operations, the QA & Regulatory Manager is responsible for the maintenance of RNF Pet’s Food Safety and Quality Management Programs in RNF pet manufacturing facility. This position is also responsible for ensuring all certification and claim audits are successfully completed, providing regulatory guidance and technical support to the company, customers and vendors.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or a related field
- Third party HACCP trained
- GFSI certification training and PCQI certification holder preferred
- A minimum of 5-7 years of Quality Assurance/ Regulatory experience Pet or/in Human Food manufacturing.
- Knowledge and experience in quality and food safety regulations for Canada, the U.S. and globally (including GMPs, HACCP and GFSI fundamentals)
- Knowledge and experience of conducting risk analysis, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate and uphold Riverside Natural Foods Pet Products Inc. Core Values.
- Take OWNERSHIP of RNF Pet’s Food Safety and Quality Management Programs which includes maintenance, implementation and verification of procedures, documents, validations, processes and perform reassessment to ensure compliance to internal programs, GFSI, claim certifications and government regulations.
- Lead and support certification audits and ensure they are successfully completed on a timely basis (BRC, Organic, Private Label, social responsibility, etc.).
- Lead and support on regulatory matters; recommend options and implement solutions to resolve problems using food science, nutrition and regulatory knowledge.
- Manage supplier compliance and approval program (pet) including ingredients, packaging material and service provider.
- Conduct assessment on initial supplier and raw material approval.
- Conduct and support supplier audit as required (local and oversea travelling may be involved)
- Work closely with Plant Quality and local CFIA Veterinarians to ensure ongoing compliance of pet production to international export regulations.
- Lead the follow-up and issue any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant process or resulting from customer complaints.
- Maintain up to date working knowledge of domestic and international regulations related to quality and food safety.
- Maintain, review and approve packaging artwork and labelling for all pet products.
- Work with the R&D leader to support the development of new products.
- Other duties as assigned.
