Description:
EDUCATION:
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in a technical discipline required;
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Food, Physical, or Biological Sciences preferred)
- Food safety background a strong asset;
- Previous experience in a quality assurance;
- Detail oriented and self-directed in execution of tasks required;
- Proven ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications.
- Motivated team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Must possess a willingness to learn with a positive attitude; good communication and time management skills.
- Be adaptable
- Must be bilingual (English and French) and Spanish is an asset

Responsibilities:
- Communicates or Escalates any non-compliances to respective department stakeholders or lead or manager of the Quality Department;
- Monitor and enforced procedures to maintain post-harvest handling.
- Help the department in building a Quality management system for food production and complied with CFIA.
- Adhered to regulatory requirements and obtained certifications such as food safety certifications to demonstrate adherence to quality standards.
- Inspect harvested produce for quality and maintained records of production activities and quality assessments.
- Execute the tasks assigned for food safety and certification program are completed in accordance with safe food for Canadian’s act.
- Perform daily walks in the cultivation, packaging, warehouse areas and monitor the activities to ensure that functioning in respect to the safe food for Canadians act and certification standards
- Participate in the Daily huddle from the manager and execute the priorities for the day in accordance with the business needs.
- Part of the HACCP team and assist the manager to conduct periodic meetings by preparing the agenda, minutes and circulating the notes to the stakeholders and following up on the action items.
- Communicate the needs of the quality department and other stakeholders by escalating to the quality manager to allocate the necessary resources to implement the food safety program
- Training the employees for e.g.: food safety, employee hygiene, HACCP, Sanitation.
- implementation of the pest control program by working with the service provider by monitoring the corrective actions and work with stakeholders to ensure that the corrective action items are effective.
- Assist the Quality manager in preparation for the food safety inspections.
- Perform, maintain and update the documentation management system and registry.
- Assist the quality manager in the effective implementation of the supplier approval program
- Performing the testing program – water, product, environment and other related inputs.
- Execute the raw material inspections program and communicating to the stakeholders that the material is released for use upon inspection.
- Perform label approval and product release in timely fashion and communicate to the stakeholders.
- Monitoring the GMP by the employees, escalating the findings with facts to the quality manager and following the GMPs by leading as an example.
- Document the customer complaints and work with stakeholders on the investigation.
- Participating in the monthly internal audits.
- Promote a zero-tolerance policy for non-compliance with internal/external requirements.
- Play an active role in other R and D projects and other ISO certifications.
