Job Title: QA Technician- Game Tester (Entry Level)
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Job Type: Full Time

What we are looking for…
Design Works Gaming is looking for someone who is passionate about game testing, problem solving, and improving software/processes. This will take many forms including testing features and releases, analyzing data from customer usage, and reviewing internal processes for improvement. Daily duties in QA will involve Defect/Bug testing, Regression testing, attending stand up meetings, and testing new games across multiple platforms. A wide variety of skills are useful, and people from a wide array of backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:

Required Skills:

  • Analytical skills – Observe a set of events, identify oddities/patterns from that set, and then clearly define the steps to reproduce
  • Communication skills – Ability to communicate clearly and accurately within the team and across departments.
  • Technical skills – Operating a browser (Dev Console, Debugging tools, Web inspector), Intermediate proficiency with multiple Operating Systems (iOS, Linux, OSX, Windows, Android, or Unix), Experience with Mobile Device Testing (Debugging, Using Dev settings)

Preferred Qualifications: (None of these are strictly required)

  • Tier 2 Technical Support
  • Advanced Problem-Solving skills
  • Mobile Testing – Knowledge of how to work with Android and iOS in a testing environment.
  • Experience with Compliance testing, things like aerospace, healthcare, financial, or gaming regulations.
  • Proficiency with at least one computer language like JavaScript, SQL, HTML, or restful API calls.
  • Familiarity with slot machines and other casino gaming.
  • Experience with Jira or other bug/task tracking software.
  • Experience with Scrum and other Agile methodologies.
  • Software QA Experience – Any kind, with mild preferences for client/server, web, or video games. Experience with casino gaming, finance, or medical testing is more valuable.
  • Statistics – basic to intermediate level knowledge of statistics, especially combinatorics.
  • Interdepartmental Communication
  • Business Analyst Experience
  • IT Networking skills – Understanding how LANs and WANs work and interact, especially with a variety of VPNs.
